A new taste for music
2026-01-27

Hello there! It’s been a really, really long time. I have been extremely busy these past few months. I have some pretty big plans and posts coming up for this blog, so stay posted!

Throughout the past few years, i’ve experimented with creating music. Not necessarily learning the “music theory” behind it, but rather just plop some notes down in FL Studio hoping it sounds good. Usually, after about an hour of not making anything good, I’d just quit and come back again in a month. This cycle has been going on for quite some time.

Recently (about three weeks ago), something clicked when I sat down on a piano and just started playing. I blabbered notes and keys for about an hour when I came across this really ambient-like chord. I created a whole lead and bassline in that moment, and it sounded quite profound. I opened FL Studio like I’ve done many times in the past and mapped the notes out on MIDI. After playing around with synths, I made the best work (although very basic), I think I might have made ever to that point, and I called it “The Abyss”, which was a very in-the-moment name to think of when saving the project.

For the next few weeks after that (leading up to today), I created around 5 other tracks in my free time which I have not yet published. Some of them were better, some worse. I started experimenting with drums, strings, VST plugins, designing my own synth presets using Vital etc, with no real goal other than to learn how this stuff works and produce tracks in as a byproduct.

A few days ago I think I created one of my best works yet. I tried to recreate an already existing piece, but since I am not yet familiar with all the tools FL Studio has to offer, I had to work around some roadblocks, but at the same time creating my own original piece taking inspiration from the original. I am not yet ready to publish this, as I think there’s some things that can be improved, but when I have time I will upload it.

As for my original work “The Abyss”, I have uploaded that to SoundCloud, then experimented with a music distributor to understand the processes of publishing to Spotify, Amazon Music, Apple Music, etc. You can listen to it on any platform but I’ve included the Spotify and SoundCloud links below:

Spotify: The Abyss on Spotify

SoundCloud: The Abyss on SoundCloud

Thank you for taking the time to read this update! I have some fun stuff coming to this blog soon, so stay updated!
